I have been with this financial institution since 2009, and although I move out of state, I still have had wonderful experiences with the personnel here. Courteous, helpful, professional, knowledgeable, patient.
Thank you! We love hearing from satisfied members!

I have been a customer of legacy since before they changed their name from university credit union and I can honestly say they get worst every year. And the tragic app update from 2020 is still awful. It's just too much of a hassle to change all of my bill payees to another account. Hopefully in time they will improve.

I have been with Legacy since 2014. After trying to use my credit card and having it declined I learned that Legacy had closed my checking, savings, and credit card accounts. My next cc payment was not until September so there were no missed payments. Legacy has yet to explain to me why they closed my accounts nor did they give any type of notice (I confirmed Friday that they do and did have my current phone number, email, and address, also no messages or notifications on the online banking site.) I am extremely disappointed, to say the very least, in how Legacy has chosen to conduct business. I hope in the future Legacy will learn to communicate with their customers, that is the very least loyal customers deserve.

Legacy credit union held my moms 1st of the months direct deposit it came on the 31st and she still doesn’t have access to her money. She can’t get her medication after having a knee replacement a week and a half ago. I don’t want to give a 1 star if there was a option for negative stars that’s what I would have chosen.

I HATE this bank. I moved from Wells Fargo to Legacy in May. Everyone kept saying credit unions are easier to bank with, and since Legacy is UAB’s bank I should move. So I did, and I have lost around $500 in insane fees and ridiculous processes. They randomly reject two of my bill payments each month. They’ll tell me I’ve added an extra 0 to the account number and have a rule that you can’t pay anything out of savings. I tried to pay my wifi bill THREE times this month. I went up there yesterday to get the cash out and move to a new bank just to pay this bill. Well I took too much out and my account was -$3. Woke up this morning and have now been charged TWO overdraft fees for $3. DO NOT BANK HERE WHATEVER YOU DO. Unless you simply don’t have to worry about your paychecks or bills, they are awful. Their customer service sucks on top of it. The wifi company told me yesterday I should pursue legal action, so we will see where this goes.

Love that they give me back my ATM fees without even having to turn in receipts. Love that my checking account earns an amazing interest rate. They have great loan rates and easy to use credit cards. As far as the bad reviews on here, I would caution you to check the grammar of the people writing them. I have a hard time trusting reviews from people who make 3 or more grammar mistakes in a review.

1) Very slow in processing any transaction 2) Based on the attitudes exhibited when calling the headquarters to make inquiries, it would be easy to believe that this was a government organization employing the stereotypical civil servant. They act like they are the ones being served and that I am altogether too much trouble. 3) Today, after having an account with them for FIVE years, they tell me that there are "locks" on my account. On inquiry, I am told that there have been "notes" on my account since 2010 that they need my articles of incorporation. When I asked why they have never asked for these before. They said the teller has probably just over-ridden them each time. I inquired again about the necessity of "Articles of Incorporation", stating that I know of know banking requirements. They explained that the credit union requires it. I asked "Why"? The woman told me it is to verify what kind of business I have. I indicated that I could not imagine why they would need to know what kind of business I have, but if they really needed to know, why they didn't just look it up on the Secretary of State's website where it is registered publicly. She said she didn't know, but she still would not take my deposit. I'm looking forward to closing my accounts as soon as outstanding checks clear. 4) Just want to reiterate---I've only had to call customer service about 4 times, but each time is sheer misery!!! 5) And fortunately, there are other institutions close by.

I rated the bank good because I do like their overall service. However, when a hold has been placed on your account over the weekend, it is a shame that you cannot get any service. If an emergency arise, you are completely screwed. For this reason, I am seriously considering changing banks.

Very awesome credit union. Anyone in or near Birmingham should join. They care about their members and are big supporters of UAB athletics and a very generous company. I would highly recommend them to anyone with lending needs. Their staff will work with you to assist you in anyway they can.

I wish I could’ve talked to someone that could’ve explained to me how a credit union works. I’ve never banked with a credit union before. Customer service is really lacking personalities these days.
