    after 30+ years, noone answers the phone. on hold 35 minutes @ 9:20 am?? lost faith in what use to be a nice customer friendly local branch. CD rates are terrible, but it insult to injury here.......DONE

    The best banking decision I ever made for my business and personal banking was to choose Home Trust. We have been in business since 1980 and I have used three other regional and national banks, but none compare with this one for cost of doing business or customer service!

    We went with HomeTrust to finance our car purchase because they were offering a slightly lower rate than our normal bank - what a huge mistake! They are really not keeping up with the other banks as far as customer service and efficiency of using their service. It has been nothing but a hassle since the beginning. I prefer paying the big bills bi-weekly when I get my check because it saves me from having to come up with a big payment all at once - I tried to set this up and they told me it was not possible - I could only make one payment a month on their system. What!? I have never heard of this - we have paid everything from other car payments to credit card bills to our mortgage in split payments so this was very disappointing. It was suggested by one of their CS reps that I set up a checking account with them and transfer the money into that bi-weekly and then make the monthly payment out of it. That is what I did and I have to set up transfers from my other bank account to go into HomeTrust as well as setting up a transfer from HomeTrust checking to the loan account. Since I only use the checking for paying the loan payment I do not log in and check it very often and just recently when I logged in I noticed that I was being charged a "Paper statement fee" for the last 2 months. I do receive paper statements but always shred them and they have never given me or asked me for the option to go paperless and I never saw any indication that I was going to be charged. I contacted them and they said there was a notice in my statement (where????) and refunded the fees. If you are going to start charging a fee for something you should warn people and give them the option to not pay it. Both of my other banks make it easy to go paperless and if I had seen that option before I would have chosen it because I prefer to bank online anyway. Instead I had to pay a fee (the fees were eventually refunded) then go searching on their website to try and figure out how to get out of it. Needless to say, once our loan is payed off I will not continue to be a HomeTrust customer and I do not recommend them to anyone looking for a bank.

    Always a pleasant experience. The staff is always very nice. I've been banking with them for almost 20 years. Never had a bad experience. 👍

    Hometrust was ok when we went with them 13 yrs ago. I never really liked them that much but they had some things going for them. They are now substandard and insufficient. It was a major pain just to cancel the account. There have just been too many things with them over the years. I've had a few problems with the Weaverville branch already. Just glad to be rid of this bank. I'm not sure they even deserve quite two stars.
