I want to share my recent experience with Highland Homes and Texas Partners Title, which is owned by Highland Homes. I was ready to close on my house this weekend which is 4th of July weekend. My closing docs were running a little late from the lender so I called the escrow officer Eva Dominguez to please wait for the docs since it was a holiday weekend and all my things were in a moving truck already. She said that everyone was wanting to go home early because of the holiday. I explained to her that I have 2 kids and no where to go and that I could not close on Tuesday. She finally said they would make an exception and wait for closing docs and they would wait for me. At 2 PM Eva Dominguez called and said to go to the bank and get a Cashiers Check for the down payment and head over there. The docs had just arrived. I did exactly what she told me. I arrived at the title company at 2:30 PM check in hand and they closed. Everyone had left. No one called to tell me. They just left. Both Highland Homes and the title company closed and left the office knowing I was on my way to close on my home. There was no holiday hours on either door and all other suites in the building were still open except theirs. They left me homeless for the 4th of July weekend. I had to pay 1 month extra of storage fees, pay the movers for 2 separate moves, get a hotel room for the weekend, which was hard to do since most rooms were booked, not to mention had to move all the install appointments I had for the weekend at my new house. This the worst closing experience I have ever had!!!! Unprofessional staff that had no sympathy for my family and decided to close early while I was left homeless. All for not wanting to wait 30 minutes they cost me over $5000 to get everything situated last minute. Not to mention the grief and anxiety that I was caused by their actions. Do not do business with this company!!!

I want to share my experience with a Highland Homes employee. My wife and I were scheduled for an 11am appointment at the Fronterra location with Teri. We arrived early and were greeted by Kathy Thomas at the model home. Kathy was not very welcoming from the very beginning. After we informed Kathy of our appointment, she reluctantly invited us in the model home. While we waited, we walked around the model home. Once we were done, we asked if we could view the second model home that was next door. Without hesitation she said no and gave no further explanation. Of course we re-engaged and asked why? Kathy asked us what our price range was and said the home next door is a different series. Whether the home is a different series or not shouldn’t matter. As customers who are in the market for a home, we have the potential to be swayed. Not showing us the home removes that possibility. Furthermore, what harm is there to view a home while waiting for the sales agent? Why make the assumption of our price range simply because we had interest in an inventory home. We were seriously considering purchasing one of the inventory homes, but due to Kathy’s behavior, Highland Homes lost a sale and we love Highland Homes.
