We paid off our car and when we asked about the title we were told it had been mailed out. We never received our car title. One would assume that a car title sent through the mail would require a signature, this apparently was not the case. Seems like a massive oversight on their part. Subsequently I’m just asked to repeatedly email different people to solve their mistake. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for your banking needs. The transition from UICU to Green State has clearly been a challenge which has allowed for many of their customers to fall through the cracks. It’s pretty telling that one of the largest banks in the state has their reviews on Facebook turned off. Transparency is important for trust and Green State clearly doesn’t value the trust of their customers.

The quality of this credit union has declined immensely. I’ve been a member at GreenState since 2014 and even have a car loan through them, but, especially in the last 4 years, have rarely had a transaction or request completed correctly. From my experience, it seems that if you are a younger member OR have moved out of state, you should find a new credit union/bank ASAP. If you don’t have the patience or time to hold their hand and walk them through every step of the process (and don’t mind repeating yourself multiple times when they don’t understand), they will not be helpful AND will often become rude and condescending, stating ‘this would be much easier if you could come into the building,’ which is even weirder considering we’re still kind of in a pandemic. They've also become increasingly impatient with people, at least in my view, who work full time and are unable to call during their ‘down hours.’ I called today (a day on which they are open) and the woman shut down any questions I had and rushed me off the phone, stating ‘I’m getting ready to shut off the phones, you need to try again at a better time.’ Lately GreenState seems incapable of helping with anything larger or more complex than a basic money deposit or withdrawal. They’ve has lost the quality that made them appealing when I first became a member - a helpful bank who would treat you better than a big bank. As soon as I am finished with this latest basic request (which has taken far longer than it should have), I will be finding a new credit union. I suggest you do the same.

I currently bank with four institutions (soon to be three) and GSCU is the most unpleasant one to work with. One example, we moved out of state and I was trying to update my address. I logged into my online banking portal and kept getting an error when using the "update personal information" function, so I tried to send a secure message but couldn't because the form was broken (I tried it in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari with no success). This was on a Saturday so I had to wait until business hours to contact them, and they tell me they have to send me a electronic form to sign. I was literally able to do this online in less than a few minutes for all three of my other banks.

Great service and staff. We have been banking with GSCU for a while when they were UICC and have been very happy with the service and staff. Have never had any issues on the contrary whenever we have a question or concern there is always someone following up to make sure we were taken care of

I've been a loyal customer of GreenState (UICCU) for a decade. I recently had overdraft fees which were quickly paid-off but GreenState decided to send me to collections or, if not collections, a company that behaves exactly like a collections agency and then failed to notify the company when my overdraft was paid. This afternoon, I called the cu, concerned about my credit and, after holding for most of my lunch break, had a fairly terrible experience. The customer service agent I initially spoke to was lovely but she didn't have enough information to be able to answer my questions. I asked to be sent to the collections department, known at GreenState as Account Resolutions. Nothing says 'we value you as a customer' quite like having the first words one hears when connected to another human being as: YOU ARE ON A RECORDED LINE. When I spoke with Jessica from GreenState's Account Resolution Department, not only did she attempt to make me feel bad for my overdrafts, as if overdrafts aren't GreenState's bread and butter, she suggested that turning one's own customers over to an agency like the one I mention above was not immoral as I repeatedly attempted to tell her but was just their right as a company. I attempted to explain that they, this pseudo collections agency, have now sent me a second letter stating that something I paid off literally months ago is now several months overdue. I explained I was worried about my credit and also worried about the confusion other customers must be feeling, much like I did, when getting a letter which so closely resembles a debt collection notice. Jessica was having none of it. She kept pushing back at me and trying to defend this ludicrous policy. She was clearly frustrated by the conversation. The implication was how dare I suggest that turning one's own customers over to a collection agency was immoral? Ultimately she questioned the reason for my call, moved to abandon the conversation and told me to 'have a good day' in a tone that suggested she didn't really want me to have a good day. I honestly cannot imagine being a human with dignity and empathy put into the position of having to defend corporate greed and I feel very sorry for her. I hope she has a good day because it cannot be easy to have a job like that. We live in a time when corporate greed dictates much of what happens in our lives. I don't know if one bank is better than another but I now know that credit unions can be just as shady and underhanded as the banks they claim to be morally superior to. As of today, I will be looking for a new bank, or credit union, which doesn't have the audacious level of contempt that GreenState has for their customers. I encourage anyone with a similar story to share it here. The only way these policies will ever change is if we band together and demand the credit union be better. UPDATE: When I arrived home last night a 3rd (pseudo) collections notice was waiting for me.

I love our bank. Everyone has accounts even our kids. They call us by name, they remember things about our lives. We appreciate all the resources and information they share with us. AND that is just the personal bankers... the mortgage department is top notch. Best I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend UICCU.
Hi Christa, thank you for the positive review and comments! We appreciate your membership in UICCU.

Excellent Credit Union, but I hate it when I am coming in for a simple transaction, and the teller tells me "I notice you don't have a checking account!" and then proceed to tell me all the benefits a UICCU checking account will bring me. I really do not want to be rude every time I come in to the Credit Union, so I let the teller go through his or her little sales pitch to which I politely reply, "Sounds good but it's not what I need". This is obviously something the management encourages so I do not want to punish the teller for it, but I really want this to stop. When I'm being sold something I don't want by a business I have demonstrated a loyalty too, it pushes me away and makes me less likely to seek out your services. Otherwise, UICCU is top notch.
Hi Enessj, thank you for taking the time to rate UICCU and provide your feedback. We would like to put a note on your account telling staff not to discuss our checking accounts with you, but are unable to determine your full name with your Google alias. Please give us a call at 319-339-1000 or ask us to add a note to your account the next time you visit a branch. Thank you again for your candid feedback and for your membership.

Jason Spengler was very helpful with our request to refinance our home. Initially, when we purchased, the UICCU loan department was accommodating and easy to work with. When we recently decided to refinance, we got the same level of expertise and courtesy. Jason and his assistant, Darci are a good team. They promptly returned either my emails or texts regarding the refinancing procedure. The verbal quote he gave me was quickly followed up with written confirmation after we supplied required information. I have found UICCU mortgage loan department to be not only friendly, but responsive in a first rate manner. I would recommend them highly. Also, the Marion location of UICCU is an attractive building which builds confidence with their members.
Hi Barbara, thank you for the positive feedback! We're pleased to hear that you had a great experience working with Jason and Darci and will share your comments with them and their supervisors. Thanks for choosing UICCU for your home loan!
