Paul Jones handled our home loan and was outstanding. Extremely attentive, even if he missed a call, we would hear from him within minutes. He walked us (first time home buyers) through the process and was there with us the whole way. Highly recommend!

I was referred to Allison by my realtor and glad I chose GMM. I wanted a local lender and Allison did not disappoint! Allison and her team communicated with me every step of the way, I was never asked for the same document twice, and closed on time! I am thrilled that my first home buying experience was seamless. I will be a returning client if I'm ever in the market for another house.

Paul Jones with George Mason Mortgage is highly unprofessional and unethical. We were sent here by a builder for a construction to perm loan on a new build. Paul never returned phone calls, texts, or emails. Several times the realtor would have to try and contact him to ever get a return call. Then he dragged his feet for months and months and said we were going to close in 30 days and that came and went multiple times. He hard pulled our credit multiple times throughout the process and never got anywhere. Finally after wasting 9 months with him he sends an email saying that something was now wrong and couldn't be closed. However he had wrong info, doesn't know how to do math, and never bothered to call or return calls or emails after this cryptic email. It was completely unprofessional and incorrect. We switched to another lender and was approved for more because they can do math and closed the loan. They wasted so much of our time and money and we did things based on his recommendations to close and qualify for his loan which was approved and then they did not go through with the deal. I honestly feel we had fiduciary harm because of this company and unprofessional individual. The only blessing about this debacle is that Paul will not make any money off of us. Run do not walk away from these people and this unprofessional and unqualified loan officer!

I am a first time home buyer and George Mason Mortgage has been absolutely amazing to work with. They have responded so quickly to my questions and getting me everything I needed to start finalizing my process. I couldn't be happier going with them and glad I did my research on the area to see them as one of the top providers in the Richmond area. Allison Davis and her team have been outstanding and I truly cannot thank them enough.

I will never do business with Russell Nash and George Mason Mortgage again. We did previous deals with him that were straightforward and all went fine so being the loyal person I am, we went with Russell for a home we were purchasing in the Outer Banks. Russell said we were approved for a rate we were okay with knowing we were to be renting it out. The house was booked with rentals under the current property management company and in the state of NC, when you buy a home that is in a rental program, you must sign an addendum stating that the property management company will continue to manage the property for 180 days so the new buyers will honor all those bookings. According to my real estate agent in NC who has been selling real estate for 18 years and sells about 100 homes per year, this is very commonplace and lenders in NC have no issue with this addendum. First Russell said we needed to postpone the closing by a week because the last booking was within 60 days of our original closing date and pushing it out a week would fix this. Okay, we said, so be it, it was costing us a couple thousand in rental income pushing it out a week but Russell seemed to say we had no choice and we were anxious to close and be done with it. Then a week rolls by and the loan still had not been approved at the 2nd home rate. Russell then tells us he's having to change the loan over to a portfolio loan. The underwriters continued to ask us for more and more items to get "our exception" approved which I sent over immediately. It is now well into our week of vacation and we're still dealing with this never ending process. Russell was adamant that it was not a George Mason thing, it was a Freddie/Fannie thing and NO lender would be able to approve it as a secondary residence because of the property mgmt addendum despite me telling him my agent had NEVER had an issue like this with any local lenders. Finally fed up I called a NC lender my agent recommended that said he could close in 2 weeks at an even lower rate that GMM and yes it was fine to have the property mgmt addendum as he dealt with that on almost every deal. We closed in TWO weeks just as he promised. People make mistakes, I'm not faulting Russell for not being familiar with the NC laws but he was indignant that this was the only way and he was doing all he could. Well he was DEAD WRONG and we proved it. At the very least, a simple apology would have been appreciated for seemingly stringing us along for far too long, costing us a lot of undue stress and headaches not to mention thousands of dollars in rental income.

Hope and George Mason Mortgage were incredible! From the very beginning she eased my mind and was completely transparent with me as far as my loan was concerned. I was very pleased to find out that my mortgage is almost $200 cheaper that my rent! I could not imagine having a better experience with my first time home buying process. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a lender to ask for Hope and George Mason Mortgage. Thank you for everything!

As soon as you close on your home loan, they will sell your loan and not notify your insurance company so when the renewal comes, it doesn't get paid. They make money off the closing costs then kick your loan aside. Furthermore, they do not provide the correct policy number or new loan number if tney even "attempt" to reach out to your insurance agency so when you try to correct it, nothing verifies and changes cannot be made to avoid further issues. Avoid them. Especially Christopher Reasonover

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We pride ourselves in providing best in class customer service and are disappointed to hear we did not meet your expectations. While we do not know the details of your loan and situation with the information you provided, we can confirm, after a loan is transferred, the client receives a “goodbye letter” from GMM containing all the information of the new servicer, along with a “welcome letter” from your new service provider containing their contact information. There is also a 60 day grace period following the effective date of the transfer. During this time you cannot be charged a late fee if you mistakenly send your mortgage payment to the GMM servicing department. If during that 60 day grace period a mortgage payment is received by GMM, our servicing department forwards the payment to your current service provider. If you would like to discuss your situation further, please contact Stacey Knight at [email protected]. We are sorry you were not more pleased with the experience but hope you will consider George Mason Mortgage in the future.

Allison with George Mason Mortgage, was amazing to work with. She was very personable, knowledgeable and always available when we had questions. She definitely had our best interest at the forefront and made us feel like family, not just a business transaction.

I had such a great experience with Mike Cao at George Mason Mortgage! As a first time home buyer I felt very cautious and unsure about how the process worked. Mike was very patient and explained things fully step by step in a way that I was able to understand. I found that he is very knowledgeable about VHDA loans & down payment assistance (qualifications etc.), he even suggested ways I could save money over time. Mike was extremely prompt and always available when I had questions (which was often). Now I am a proud home owner and I can’t thank him enough! I fully recommend using Mike Cao as your loan officer, especially if it is your first home! Thanks Mike!!! -Robin M.

Allison Davis was and still is amazing . She is never more that just a phone call or text away when you need her. Her clock does not stop at 5pm, Monday thru friday. She answers on the weekend and when I told her I didn’t understand , she made time for me to come in her office and break it down so I understood the entire process. You can tell that she is one of the few people who does a job that she loves and not for the money. From my experience as a first time home buyer and no background in homeownership and really not a clue on how to make it happen, with the help of her as my lender and tonya nutall as my realtor, I WILL NEVER TRUST ANOTHER PERSON AS MUCH AS THEM!!!!!!! I give so much credit to them both and I look to them for any questions or ideas I have about purchasing anything in real estate and would tell anyone about them when they talking about buying.
