I have been a member of this credit union and its predecessors for 31 years. Recently, there was a data breach at First Tech, and since then, our online banking has been shut down by First Tech. First Tech has told us that they will not turn our online banking functionality back on until we have a third party company perform a virus/malware scan on our two computers. This will cost at least $130 each. I scanned our computers with Windows Defender (full scan) and Google, and no issues were found. I emailed the results of these scans to First Tech, but they have not responded to this email nor to a follow-up phone call. An additional scan using AVG has verified the Windows Defender and Google results. As my PC's are clean, I see no reason to pay $260 to prove this, as it appears the data breach did not occur due to our computers.
I’m sorry to hear about the troubles you’ve had accessing Online Banking and connecting with us recently. I’d like to look more into your situation. Can you please email [email protected] with your contact information so I can look into your accounts? Thank you.

After terrible experiences with my old bank that rhymes with “smells sargo”; I moved all of my accounts to First Tech. Overall my experience has been great! Funds are available in the full amount nearly instantly after deposit, friendly customer service, the shared branching actually gives me more locations, ATMs and longer hours than my old bank despite only having one actual location in Fort Collins. The app is very useful, although it can be buggy at times. The interest that I earn on my savings account is far better than my old bank also. The brick and mortar location is clean, comfortable, and well kept. I appreciate their isolated booths so that the whole lobby can’t overhear my financial and personal information. I’m happy that First Tech doesn’t try to nickel and dime their members with ridiculous fees at every turn like my old bank did to their customers.

Why did we wait so long to switch our accounts away from Big Bank??? I have no idea, moving out accounts to First Tech was the best financial move we've made in years. We worked with Monica at this branch, she was amazing through the whole process. The First Tech android app is also amazing, it works just as well as any other bank app I've used.

I haven't had any interaction with staff but coming from Madison WI where we've been a member of UWCU for 20 years... This is the best FREE ATM and probably only one in Fort Collins. I've tried other credit unions but they always sneak in a $1-3 fee, but not First Tech. I've told my other Wisconsin friends about you. Thank you for having a free ATM. 9/1/19: no longer free ATM for us, so gotta drop 1 star.
Colin, thanks for the kind words about our ATM.

Stay away! Service here has become increasingly poor as the years have progressed and reps aren't trained to keep accounts secure. Case in point: I went in today to get temporary checks. Assumed it would be as easy process. Stupidly I had forgotten that you go to the end of the line when you aren't depositing funds. After 30 minutes of everyone else in the lobby getting cleared out (including 3 groups who came in after me), it was finally determined that I could speak to a rep at a desk. Stated I was surprised he could help me since I had to wait for someone from the office desks; but no, he confirmed that he could have helped me before. Takes 2 minutes and I'm out of there. Frustrating timeframe, but at least I'm done. Or so I thought. I received a call from "Jeff" about 30 minutes later and it turns out I was given checks for someone else. They had left the checks on the printer and Jeff didn't verify any documents that he gave me. Even more frustrating? Looking through the checks he gave me, and not a single one was for my account. I actually got checks for two accounts, NEITHER OF WHICH IS MINE. That's absolutely mindboggling. Even better, whose fault was it that my credit union gave me checks for someone else? That's right, Jeff made it clear that I was in the wrong to be unhappy. While I may have thought I could trust that my bank would keep our accounts secure, it was pointed out to me that it was my fault that I received checks for these other two account a. Come on First Tech, are you kidding me? I mean, sure, I guess I should have verified I got checks for me; but it also seems fair that we should be able to trust a financial institution to keep our accounts secure. I'm familiar with one of the couples that I was given checks for and even now the only reason they know is because I told them; First Tech still had yet to inform the account holders of the mistake. That's not just silly, that's downright insulting.

This location is a joke. If you are planning on going in to just get money out of your account then plan on being there for an hour. They have ONE teller sitting down at a desk, some guy standing at the door that will lie to you saying your wait will be 5-10 minutes when it really is close to an hour. I only try to go to the one Loveland because there is more than one teller, and they are all nice older gals. I work at a bank currently and that is just not acceptable.

Hands down good knowledged people! Ive ben with first tech since back when they started out as addison avenue over 10yrs ago. Not one problem at all. I have three truck loans through them that went smooth as glass. All my check deposits are instant with with no holds! When i walk in to the ft collins branch they hug me and welcome me with a first name bases. Monica is wonderful and so is eveyone els. First tech does have guid lines that they go by and rarely make exceptions to one pedson to keep it fare and i guess i get that.. thank ya"ll again for over 10 flawless yrs merry x-mass! Love ya"ll!!

James was an amazing customer service rep and went above and beyond but this credit union falls short. Mobile app is trash and all around outdated system. Wouldn’t trust my money here again.

So many years ago, this was the "go to" CU in Fort Collins. Friendly, helpful and competitive products and services. No longer the case. Do your research and find better products.
