My company uses this branch and as the employees may be pleasant, the time spent in the bank is ridiculous. Every time I come to this branch I’m waiting at least 30 minutes and there is always a line. I don’t understand why this large branch doesn’t have more employees working on the busy days?? Monday’s and Friday’s are nightmares at this branch; get ready to spend an hour waiting. 2 employees working is stupid! There are at least 6 teller stations and I’ve never seen more than 3 employees working. HIRE MORE PEOPLE!!

This is my first review, so this means the service is pretty bad for me to take time to write this. As a trustee for my mom"s estate I have a big responsibility taking care of all her financial obligations, while also taking care of my personal finances. My mom asked that her money be kept at First Hawaiian because she knows no other bank other than Bank of Hawaii. I am also on the account so I can pay her bills. I pay the bills from her checking account with Bank of Hawaii. Big purchases (new appliances, new sofa, Christmas gifts for the kids and grand kids) are from the FHB account. These are the only times I take money out of this account per mom"s request. Each time I take money out for my mom the tellers from this branch make sly comments about "family taking money from family members'. It always comes in a story form while I am being helped. Do they do this to any customer they "suspect" of financial abuse of an elderly? This is the impression I get from the tellers in this bank and I have always felt uncomfortable making a transaction at this bank. At other FHB banks the transactions were professionally done. Recently I closed my CD account to reinvest in a better performing investment account. Although with the market currently tanking, not sure if this was a good idea. The teller was in-training, so she was not sure about what steps to follow. She had the help of the more experienced teller next to her. Then the service manager came by to explain and help the teller. Finally the branch manager came by to explain and sign papers. All this took about 15-20 minutes; to close the account and get a check in my name. A week later I receive a credit memo that my mom"s savings account has a reverse debt posted on the account due to an error. Not understanding what this meant I immediately went back to this bank to find out what they did. I approached the same teller and she had to speak with the service manager. Another 15 minute wait. I was then told that they had taken the money out of my mother's account to pay me for the CD. WHAT???? I did not fill out any withdrawal form to remove money from the savings account. The forms I signed was for closing the CD. The reason they gave: the teller pushed the wrong button, but at least the main branch caught it. Wow! Lucky me! Then the manager tells me to consult their financial advisor because the savings has a large amount of money. I told her I was not interested and plan to move all the accounts to another branch and seek financial help from the new bank. Before I left the window she shoved a paper with the name and face of their financial advisor into my face. Is she stupid? After screwing up this transaction, you want me to continue dealing with your bank? Frankly, if they screw up a $3K check, can you imagine what they might do with $90K??? Personally, I recommend HawaiiUSA FCU or American Savings. These bigger banks do not have the aloha for the small people like me. (I would like to add that I do not blame the trainee teller for any of this. She had an experienced teller, and two managers helping her. Perhaps incompetence is at the top, and why this bank has low ratings from customers.)

If you want to get charged overdraft fees and have your account closed because you can't deposit since covid has most of the state living on unemployment. Then yes this is the bank for you.

Been with this bank for a super long time. First time I ever get so frustrated with their policy. Done and happened so many times and now all of a sudden. It's either new management or.employees.

I'm the third generation of my family coming to this bank to get loans, lines of credit, deposit boxes, etc. I have never heard any complaints from my family and neither have I any. I have always been treated well at this location. They are expedient and diligent. 5 stars.

First Hawaiian Bank made a mistake after I applied for a loan which affected my credit report. After several calls to find out what happened, they didn't explain why but just told me they're going to fix it. Mistakes that affect your credit report is a serious matter. I do not recommend First Hawaiian Bank.

I'm not sure what it is but Every. Single. Time. I come here I get a hard time. The staff and managers tell me the reasons why I can't do simple banking services rather than helping me with solutions. It shouldnt take 45 minutes for a cashiers check. Keep Matt around as he seems to be the only helpful human there. For business banking, go somewhere else. Highly recommend CPB.

A few of the Tellers we do business here with (from time to time.) are so friendly and helpful, such a pleasure of doing business with them. They are mostly the reason my fam does business here still. Other than that, FHB would get 3 stars or less.

I don't know how many people call them in a daily basis, but 15 min waiting on the line and still no answer. Must be crazy busy.
