Rude staff, confusing and useless website. I can't use the ATM because I don't remember my PIN and they won't let me reset it, so I have to go into the building and fill out a pointless sheet of paper in order to make a transaction.

    Response from the owner

Kitty, We’re sorry for the inconvenience. We’d love to find out more information about the situation, what’s the best way to contact you offline?”

These are the most dishonest people I have ever dealt with at a financial institution. Not only did they litterally con me with lies, but they did it while smiling. Meanwhile weeks later when I found out just exactly how dishonest they were, it was too late to obtain my property that they sold. This place is a perfect example of trash morals and complete disregard for the wellness of the customers. If only I could give them zero stars.

My mother in law has a car loan and a savings account with FFCU. we have been inquiring about trying to get mom into a quality nursing home but the car loan is preventing us from getting her in her in . We asked the whatmwhat wouldawould transpireFtranspire if we turned the car in and quit making payments. We were Very sternly told that that was not an option. Now there is a hold on her savings account with no explanation. Cannot even give us statements for the past 3 months. Appalling be a avior for a business in my opinion. When we ask for an explanation none is givin.

    Response from the owner

My mother used this location for many years, & I had never had any real problems with Family Financial, & around 2013 I closed my account amicably after withdrawing my savings & heading to the other side of the state for college. I was always a bit dismayed that each time I made a transaction, someone (myself or the teller) had to use a large, yellow sheet of paper, filling in a couple of boxes, & leaving most of it blank. As an environmentally conscious person this concerned me, as the same task could be accomplished easily without wasting mountains of paper every day. After obtaining a Masters degree in NM I returned to W. Michigan, & remembering my time fondly at Family Financial, I returned to this branch once again to open an account. Before doing so I perused the FFCU website, & was a bit confused by the serious lack of basic information in spite of the site's new, modernized look. Nevertheless, I rolled up change, gathered cash, & prepared checks for a first deposit, then took a trip to this branch to open an account. I waited in line for quite awhile, meanwhile noticing a couple of employees having a personal conversation. After a long wait, one employee emerged from behind the counter & entered a side office. I attempted to make eye contact, but the woman avoided looking at me & sat down at the computer. I wandered over to the office, gently knocked on the window, & told her that I'd like to open a checking account. She looked annoyed, but said "Alright then, but you can't do that. You need a checking AND savings account" in an unexpectedly rude fashion, not inviting me to take a seat or looking away from the computer screen. Nevertheless, I sat down with my bag of coins & cash. The employee then tersely said "ID?", so I took out my NM drivers license. She began typing on the computer, then looked at my ID with a sort of disgusted face, & said "you aren't a resident of Muskegon County, so we can't help you". I explained that I've lived in Muskegon County since December of 2018, but I just haven't gone to the Secretary of State to switch my license over yet, & I have other proofs of residency. The woman rudely told me that I MUST have a MI drivers license or I should go somewhere else. I left in disbelief as to how terribly I had been treated. After getting my MI license I returned to this branch, again to open an account. This time I went up to the counter & a very polite young blonde woman helped me, which restored my faith in Family Financial. My time was nothing but pleasant. She explained to me how the checking & savings account numbers worked, how to sign up for account benefits, & how to access the online account I was setting up at the location. However, I was disturbed to see that STILL, in 2019, huge amounts of the yellow paper slips are being wasted for every single transaction. The next day I attempted to log in to the online account I set up, but the system didn't recognize my username/password that I had set up, so this needed to be reset. I called the customer service line to reset my account details, & again was greeted by an EXTREMELY rude woman over the phone. I eventually got my credentials to log in, but did not appreciate being treated like I was stupid, & as if that the credentials not working was my fault. I checked my credit score later, which had dropped due to a hard inquiry of my credit by Family Financial. I wasn't applying for a loan; I WAS GIVING THEM MY MONEY IN CASH to set up an account, & they have no business dinging my credit score for up to 2 YEARS. I called again to inquire about this hard inquiry, & was told that they "disclose this up front". I said NO, they DID NOT disclose this to me, but the woman insisted that they did. Again, I'm NOT STUPID as the woman on the phone was implying. If this fact had been actually disclosed, who would proceed to open an account KNOWING that they'd have their credit score dinged as if applying for a loan, when they are GIVING the CU money?! Their practices are deceptive & wasteful, & many employees are extremely rude and unhelpful.

Worst bank I've ever had. Who caps spending at $1000 per day? If the bank is closed you're screwed, you have to call them and ASK them to let you spend YOUR money. If you need a babysitter, this is the bank for you!!

Run like a typical bank with none of the benefits of being a credit union. Worst in the state.
