Keep removing them from my credit and disputing their claims. Never once signed an agreement with them, i have no sort of contract with them. Theyve tried to bully me into paying them for something i never got from them. Obviously a very fraudulent company and i do not understand how or why they are still in business. Ive called them on multiple occasions and argued with management. Ive threatened court and told them to cease and desist yet once again citibank(whom ive also never used) and ecmc persist. No more games, no more phone calls. We are going to court. Im suing for harrassment, pain and suffering from destroying my credit score, and for attorney and court costs. Do not ever ever ever work with this company.

this is an interesting company. they just seem to be so sure everyone is as passionate about student loans as they are, they teach you a college semester and a half worth of stuff in two weeks. Actually, whose brain has that kind of capacity? On top of that you were judged for getting confused and not picking everything...don't really care about student loans will never care about student loans, but this was a great in between jobs position. NEVER AGAIN...

I was a student loan counselor in the solutions department and as an employee, this is by far the worst job I’ve ever had. (And i used to clean school busses in the middle of summer.) They cram calls down your throat for 6 hours a day just to make their clients happy, with zero regard for how burned out the employees get. They constantly have to re hire because of their high turnover. In fact, they took away monthly commissions because they claimed too many people were quitting after consistently missing the mark. They have this thing called “predictive dialing” which basically means you will ALWAYS be on a call. By “call” I mean more than likely a wrong number, a voicemail, someone’s job, or someone’s grandma so for every 10 calls that get abruptly sent to you in 1 tenth of a second, youre lucky if 1 of them is the right number, and even luckier if they actually give you the time of day because BY THE WAY, youre also calling from a number marked as “spam” on most peoples’ phones. On top of that, cold calling in general is dead and none of the big wigs seem to have a solid alternative plan around that. I applied for 5 different promotions in 3 years, and wasnt even interviewed for 3 of them (Thanks Ryan Bakke and Nate Vickery) even though i put up some of the highest numbers for 3 years straight, won just about every corny, horribly executed sales competition they had, and even peer mentored a ton of people to improve THEIR numbers. I also have a ton of management experience in fortune 100 companies back in New York, AND I even peer mentored someone who said i was the best mentorship session they’d had, and was then promoted himself! None of this mattered when i tried to move up with the company. I put off writing this because I wanted to save face in case I’m desperate for another job in the future, but i would honestly rather move back to the east coast and live in my dad’s basement than ever waste another day of my life working and OVER PERFORMING for people who don’t appreciate it. Side note, Sam Verdeja is an incredible manager who gets it, and if there were more people like him as managers at Solutions, this review would’ve been written in a much different light. To anyone considering working here, dont break your back for these clowns. Do just enough to get by and youll be much happier, and probably rewarded much more handsomely in my experience. UPDATE MARCH 2021: Now this Solutions department is forcing its counselors to ask people for payments. The ONE thing that made this job even doable was knowing that you didnt have to ask for payments. Re-read everything i said above (especially the part about predictive dialing and cold calling from a “spam” number) just to try and coerce people into making student loan payments during a time where half the country is out of a job. Sound like fun to you? Me neither. I could not be happier about the fact that i told these bums to kick rocks. Byeeeeee ECMC

I hate this company. They are a joke. I did not deal with them for my student loan but I did work for them. If you have an offer do not take it. Their turn over rate is pathetic at best. Hired in Oct. with 9 other people, 3 left and the rest of us let go because they did not have the budget to keep us. Wow really. They give you auction money, then invite (by invite I mean FOURCE) you to go to the auction while you sit and watch them give things away and you are not allowed to participate. They will even KINDLY hand you the auction money right before just so you know how much you won't be able to use. Very high pressure job, even though the name "Student Loan Counselor" is your title, there is no time to console, only time to call and get them to stay on the phone. Dislike ECMC Solution's very much!!!!

STAY FAR AWAY. I’m was an employee that only stayed for 3 weeks after the 2 week training. I came on as a temp and during training they made it seem like there were little metrics and goals to meet. When done with training we were immediately HOUNDED about metrics. I came in and was on top of the list for metrics I was still hounded. We also were supposed to do things we never were taught and were hounded for not knowing them. I eventually was asked how I felt everything was going and I told them I felt that the metrics were impossible to reach. My direct manager told me our opinions doesn’t matter asking me FOR MY OPINION. he then said in a group setting of 4 temp workers that he did not need us there and we mean nothing to the company and how we can complain about metrics but it didn’t matter and how I was “disrespectful” for voicing my opinion once being asked. I put my 2 weeks in and am not looking back. After putting my 2 weeks in, he won’t answer any questions or work concerns of mine or the other temps. I never felt so belittled in my life. We started with a group of about 13 ppl in my training class, there’s 4 now after 3 weeks.

I know the rehabilitation program is offered as a one time deal. I am not a child I don’t need this repeated every time you call. I don’t need you to babysit me while I take care of this issue. I’m glad Navient doesn’t treat me like that.

I worked at ECMC, in the Solutions Department, for almost 7 years. My only regret upon resigning, was not doing it sooner. Pros - Benefits; although they are diminishing - Tuition Reimbursement - Free Bus Pass/Reduced Parking Cons - No room for growth unless you are complaisant with an unethical corporate culture - Condescending management that lacks leadership - An unnerving amount of turnover within the Solutions Department - Extreme amounts of nepotism - Ironically, the “Open Door” policy (Please use with caution) - Managements lack of transparency - Obsessive micromanaging At the beginning of my tenure with ECMC, things were just short of amazing. Management was kind and caring and loan counselors went great lengths to educate borrowers on getting their federal student loans current and into long-term solutions. After approximately a year of employment, there were substantial layoffs and new management came on board. Things changed drastically and the focus was no longer on educating borrowers, but rather getting their loans current and then onto the next call. This left SEVERAL borrowers at risk of defaulting on their loans due to the lack of education on ECMC’s part. Many employees were uncomfortable with not only the direction of new management, but also the poor treatment they received. As a result, conflicts ensued and employees left the company at an astounding rate. This, eventually prompted HR to conduct a survey. After the results came in, concerns were addressed and things improved. In fact, the overall culture, environment, and atmosphere was once again uplifting. Business needs forced frequent changes, but there was once again a sense of unity within the department. We went back to counseling borrowers and it felt good. Unfortunately, that did not last and things went back to the previous level of discomfort. Morale, was an all time low and the turnover rate continued to reflect that; and still does. (I understand business needs change and therefore the role of a company changes, however, a company’s integrity must ALWAYS be priority and that was simply not the case.) My understanding now, is that there is quite a bit more focus on repayment options due to legislative changes, which is great, however, that should have NEVER been lost in the first place. After all, that’s what their clients pay for. UPDATE: June 2019. The Solutions Department recently lost several accounts, but also picked up a few others. They eliminated the bonus structure and went exclusively with an hourly wage. It appears they are trying to stay relevant by offering slightly above the minimum wage of $15/hour that is soon to hit Minneapolis. They continue to have “phrases” employees must follow, although, there will supposedly be more flexibility within these coming soon. There were also recently layoffs which changed the position of a few managers and created an opportunity for a new manager to come on board. They are looking at a year to improve numbers otherwise risk losing the Solutions Department altogether. With the constant turnover rate and the amount of money and time they lose investing in the training of new employees (who often seem to quit during training or shortly thereafter) their future seems to be up in the air.
