This place lacks basic customer service skills and courtesy and from the looks of the prior comments it is something that is a common trend for them. I will NEVER recommend this credit union and would advise everyone to look for a different credit union or bank. I for sure will be closing my accounts and going elsewhere. They also violate banking regulations and laws and practice unfair lending. Credit Unions used to be for the people however this particular credit union is greedy and does not care about their customers.
Thank you for your feedback, Kassidy. We did take care of your issue and discussed with staff how they can provide better service in difficult situations. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us at the branch and leave a review.

I have been banking with DMMCU SINCE 2013. 8 years total now and haven’t once came across on changing banks or going anywhere else. They have great friendly staff that always helps me out, very professional on their services they provide. Would highly recommend friends and family to bank with then! Thank you.
Thank you for your loyal membership, Pedro!

This placed used to be a goldmine. One of the last places that’s used to make you feel like they cared and wanted you there. Not so much lately. There guidelines have certainly changed. Has the feelings of a larger nationwide bank! Look elsewhere, other CU will not only beat their rates, but will welcome you in.
We're sorry you had a bad experience with us. If you would like to discuss what happened, please email [email protected] or call 515-283-4195 and ask to speak with a manager.

I would give zero stars if I could. I have been banking at this bank for 3 years. Since my time here I have had two counts of fraud committed on my account. The first time, the bank refused to give me my money back even when I had proof that I didn’t do the ACH transactions. They only wanted to help once I got the police involved. I then had to wait two weeks with no access to any money before I could get my money back and even then they were hesitant on returning the money that had occurred from overdraft fees. The second time, they still refused to help me and told me that security was in place to make sure my card wasn’t used in other states, which was not true. I had fraud committed in 4 different states all in the same day and this bank didnt freeze my card or even think to call me and ask if I was doing the transactions. I had to speak to two different tellers and their supervisor, Karla. Both tellers I spoke with had absolutely no communication skills and lacked to show any motivation to help me figure out what options I had and how I can try to get my money back. I still got hit with overdraft fees, I still had to wait almost two weeks for them to return my money AND I practically had to beg to have the overdraft fees returned to me. On top of everything, I wanted to close my checking account for obvious reasons, but since I had a loan to finish paying off, I had to leave an account open and Giovanna (the teller that was helping me do this) spoke to me as if I was an idiot and as if I didn’t understand why I had to have an account open. I did understand but I was asking to leave my SAVINGS open and to close my CHECKING account. She said she closed the checking account. I find out a couple days later that she in fact did not close the account correctly and due to that, an automatic payment came out causing me to go into the negatives again and get overdraft fees again, which would NOT have happened if she correctly closed the checking account. I had to come in and explain the whole situation and sat for the repetitive speech of why I had to leave an account open, which I understood perfectly fine the first time. I think this place needs to train the people they hire more and make sure they are fully aware of their job because Giovanna missed huge procedures that take place when closing an account. I think they need to get better customer service training since the only time I’ve ever had anyone be nice to me and treat me with respect and courtesy was when i was getting a loan. Other than that, they do not go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. Overall, the only two people that ever made me feel okay with banking here out of everyone that works there, is Scott and Breezie. This bank is a complete nightmare and does not care for the financial stress they cause you. If you want to have a safe and secure bank with people who are willing to help you, I do NOT recommend this bank. I am so happy to not be at this bank anymore.
Lily-Thank you for your review and feedback. We will further investigate what happened, and we'll talk to the staff mentioned above. Feedback is always good to have so we can better train our staff and assist our members. We are sorry this happened to you.

Let the buyer beware on Auto Loans. Joann will not fully explain the "insurance protection" she up sells. I borrowed about $40,000 for 2 auto loans. She just causally said "would you like insurance, it covers the loan if you die or become disabled. It won't change your payment." I said yes, why not if it doesn't change the payment. Technically she is correct, it doesn't change the payment, however she fails to tell you is that they add the premium for the insurance to your loan balance or what that premium amount will be. They added over $170 in insurance premium to my loan balances in October alone! I paid over $170 for insurance on an overall obligation of $40,000. That is unbelievably crazy high insurance. The cost of the insurance is basically 2 to 3 times the interest of the loan. This should be illegal. I hope someone from the Iowa Department of Insurance checks into their insurance practices.
We're sorry for the confusion, and that we didn't explain the debt protection coverage better. The coverage can be cancelled at anytime if you don't want your loan paid in the event of an injury or death. If you contact one of our loan officers at 515-283-4195 or email [email protected], they can remove the coverage for you. Thank you for the feedback. It's how we make improvements.
