My husband and I went into this branch today to make a couple changes and open a new checking/saving account. The teller who initially helped us was super friendly and great! We met with Jazmin to do everything we needed. Jazmin was absolutely amazing! Was super nice/helpful. Great customer service, offered some advice after pulling my credit. Explained things really well. Made us feel really welcome. Called us back ASAP after investigating a question we had earlier in person. I felt like I got some really transparent answers etc, and couldn’t be happier so far!!

    Response from the owner

This is great to hear, Clayton. Thank you for sharing your experience at the Thornton branch. We appreciate your loyal membership!

Me and my wife have been members of Credit Union of Colorado for a pretty long time. Up until today, I have always received top notch customer service at this particular branch in Thornton. That all changed after I pulled up and experienced a teller by the name Jasmine. After waiting in the drive up line for over 45 minutes, she was extremely rude, catty, and showed very poor customer service. My wife has worked in the banking industry for over 10 years, none of her tellers would ever be able to talk to a customer like Jasmine spoke to me today and still keep their job. Jasmine definitely needs to be retrained if Credit Union of Colorado doesn’t want to lose good customers.

    Response from the owner

On Thursday, August 8, 2019, I came to this “Credit Union of Colorado” branch to deposit some funds since I had completed an online application for a checking and savings account. I figured there wouldn’t be any problems as I had received an email stating my application had been approved for both types of accounts, hoping that I could get the account numbers to pass on to my income provider, but was unable to verify my job name. I even called to confirm the email. The rude representative on the phone told me I would need to go to a branch to verify my identity, and abruptly hung up on me. When I arrived, I was told to wait for a banker to assist in setting up my account, but after waiting for about 35-45 minutes I was pulled back and told, I was only approved to open a savings account and not a checking account. I was told I could not open a checking account for six months and that the savings account would be restricted to cash transactions. I found this to be very odd, and personally, have never heard of such a strange policy. This revelation left me very heated. I feel this must have been a false piece of information because while waiting I saw two individuals open an account and receive their debit card immediately. This occurred to me as very strange, and personally, feel I was profiled and discriminated against due to my color. The banker must have made an assumption that “I was up to no good, and didn’t have a legitimate reason to be there.” This experience was shocking, and as a result, I will not recommend this “Credit Union of Colorado” bank to anyone. There are far better banks and credit unions to do business with, in my humble opinion. Consider the email confirmation I received and the highly unprofessional, unorganized treatment I received after going to their branch in person.

Wish I could give it six. This is the best financial institution ever. They're policies are fair and effective, and the staff is always pleasant. I recently had a lot of personal info stolen and we were able to switch and guard my info quickly. Shout out to Gabriel Acevedo for providing awesome service. Honestly surprised at how this was handled while there is a pandemic going on! Thank you!

If I could give you a zero,I would. Today I tried to withdraw money from the ATM only to learn that my card had expired. I have had many ATM cards and the banks always sent new cards well ahead of the expiration date. I guess this is the difference between a real bank and a credit union. I then called the Credit Union of Colorado and was told new cards are mailed 30-45 days before expiration. We have never received them. I was told they could be mailed to us at the cost of $45! Outrageous when we are all quarantined during this COVID-19 pandemic. I refused to accept that and waited 15 min on hold until a supervisor waved the fee. However, having made this request I was told that a card would not reach me for at least six days. I refused to wait and will now be forced to wait in line at a hopelessly inadequate drive up window(branch at 120th in Thornton). Very poor customer service. Give me a real bank any day.

I really recommend getting a new staff team or at least training these people better! There's 3 of these tellers here and only one knows what they are doing and that one person has been running around helping the others who dont know what they are doing. Meanwhile you have 7 people standing in line over 30 minutes! Definitely going to be switching banks soon! Premier credit union lines are always quick and efficient!

    Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback, Victoria. We looked into your interaction with our staff on the day you are describing and believe our staff handled the situation appropriately. It is worth noting that we did have a Member Advocate in training at the time you were served. We apologize if the busy morning and circumstances left you with an experience that was not favorable. Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to share your experience.

I've only ever used their ATM as it is part of my co-op, but the actual tellers and the credit union is not part of it for some reason. The ATM is usually pretty good. Once in awhile it won't print receipts, but it's not that often and not a huge inconvenience. However, something that does cause a huge inconvenience is people who don't understand how to work the ATM. Since the huge change to chip cards, not everyone has had a seamless transition. This ATM is set up so that you have to push the card in and quickly pull it out again, and then the machine will recognize that the card has a chip and ask you to reinsert it until it tells you to remove it again. But no where on the machine does it say that you first need to slide it in and then quickly pull it out in order to get the machine to respond. I have sat behind numerous people who will push their card in and sit there for 5 minutes waiting for the machine to even acknowledge they are there. And since they have left the card in there for so long, it doesn't usually register when they finally decide to pull it out and try again. This system of failure generally continues for multiple attempts that last for long periods of time and it seems that most people give up and drive away without ever officially using the machine. While I understand that it is the people not comprehending how it works, it does cause a huge delay and therefore there should be some type of instructions for the technology illiterate, in hopes that it will reduce the delays for the people who are smarter than the inanimate ATM.

Absolutely the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with. My Aunt recently passed away and she had a very small amount of her assets in Credit Union of Colorado. Credit union of Colorado absolutely was the most painful of all the financial organization I dealt with to have the assets transferred to the estate. Even after I supplied them with all the proper paperwork they are going to take another 3 weeks to release the funds. Not one time during my interactions with the personnel at Credit Union of Colorado did an employee express remorse of sympathy for my Aunt's passing. This was the only organization I dealt with during this entire process that nobody expressed their condolences to the family. As well the first time I visited this branch, the bank officer that helped me was rude and actually snapped back at me when I questioned why this was such a long process for them. Considering the circumstances, she was way out of line and definitely should not be working with the public. I highly recommend securing your banking needs with another institution.

    Response from the owner

Mr. Moore we deeply regret that your experience with us during this time was not one that you will look back on with contentment and comfort. On behalf of all of us at the Credit Union of Colorado, we do offer our condolences to you and your family. We apologize that the process to transfer your aunt’s assets could not be conducted rapidly. We will use your feedback as a source of coaching and improvement for our team members. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

Big bank mentality for a credit union. Stay Away. Awful customer service and limited pay back options for auto loans. Take out your auto loans with a different bank. These people are monsters.

    Response from the owner

Hi Emily, we'd like to talk with you directly about your concerns. Please call us at 800-444-4816 so that we can better understand your specific needs.
