for a "local" bank that claims it cares about the community, they nickel and dime you with fees way worse than any of the big, national banks do. every bank in the world has overdraft protection--they actively use overdrafts as a revenue generator. a lot of banks reimburse atm fees. not these guys. once upon a time, they were a decent local bank. now, they're just like any other bank, only without enough money backing them to provide the actual customer service they claim to pride themselves on

If we could give 0 stars we would. If you are small business looking for a partner do not choose this bank. Consider Hawthorn, First State, or any other community bank than this. We have many loans with our current bank and one loan with Central still still standing. The issue had to do with one of our fleet vehicles and an insurance change. We changed insurance companies (as businesses do from time to time) and we recieved multiple letters saying the insurance was not adequate for them (Central Bank) to maintain security of the loan. Totally fine, we understand that. We then went back to our insurance carrier and explained the issue to which they promptly responded and got our coverage up to par with what the bank was asking for. We submitted this change to the bank and they sent us a confirmation of acceptance and approval in October and we thought the issue was settled, no harm no foul. We are still getting letters in DECEMBER that the issue is not taken care of and we are going to be considered DELINQUENT! Seriously, a bank this size should have better systems in place. Especially (from a small business owner's perspective) when we can go to a local bank (Hawthorn, First State, Callaway, etc.) And be able to resolve these issues with an actual person that we can build a true relationship with. I really hate to do this, I know the impact these reviews have on small business and typically do not leave a bad one unless it is truly warranted. This time, it is warranted.

Called customer service and spoke to Margaret. Took awhile to get the information I needed. Margaret was short with me and quick tempered. Not a good look.

I have been a customer of Central Bank for 15 years. They have met my every expectation no matter which branch I visited or who I talked to in customer service. I read many of the negative reviews and have had none the the negative experiences they speak of. Having been in some form of customer service myself for over 40 years I have found that if you drill down you discover that many times these negative experiences are a result of the negative approach or misunderstanding of the customer. They create their own problems.

Most of the staff I've encountered have been friendly and helpful. Online banking is easy and efficient. Beyond that, when you get into needing assistance with mortgages etc, their care and level of service has been terrible. They have not met my expectations which have been fueled by all the advertisements and promotions that claim they care. Customer service, follow through, and a genuine sense that they care have been sadly lacking.

I took at trip to the Broadway location to apply for an auto loan. The door was locked during business hours with a sign to call to be let in. I called the number and the guy on the phone behaved like he had no clue the door was locked. I tell them I want to apply for a loan and they hand me a paper application and do not give me a pen. I finally get a pen and turn it in. I call the following day and am informed my app was assigned to Matt. Im transferred to a guy named Brian Duncan and he tells me there's a problem with pulling info. He then tries to explain how credit bureaus work as if I didnt know. He tells me to call back in a few days. I do and am transferred to Brian. Hes rude and condescending even more than the first time. He quotes me an interest rate and I go to the dealership to get a car. The dealership calls Brian, who informs them that he quoted me a higher rate. Im frustrated at this point cause he did in fact quote me a lower rate. The dealership tells me I can get a better rate through another bank. I got for it. You expect banks to be sleazy but they still want your business. My experience with Brian was terrible. Im a current account holder and they treated me like garbage.

I had the absolute best experience with Robyn Nall "Consumer Banking Representative" at the Broadway location on June 24. She is professional, thoughtful, engaging, helpful, and made opening a business account a pleasant experience. It was something that I was not looking forward to in part because of the time it takes. She took care of several things in advance of our meeting so it was snap.

Just opened an account with Central Bank, the types of accounts look great and the Dashboard feature is awesome. I went over my time and the bank was closing, but the teller, Sam, didn't seem to mind at all and I was helped to the end. A great bank and great service to go with it.

I've been dealing with CBBC since they were Boone County National Bank and besides a couple of snags with some less than professional employees, I've been extremely impressed with their service. I moved back to KC recently for health issues but kept my accounts with them and I'm glad I did. Blake in customer service is always on top of things and a master at his job.
