I’ve had nothing but headaches with this bank. The only reason I’m with them is because I refinanced my car at a lower interest rate with them. They make everything that should be very simple extremely complicated. There customer service is not the best and can use a lot of help in the area of COMMUNICATION.

Wish I could give negative stars. Do NOT use for shared branch services. They refuse to fax my disability check to my credit union so they can release the funds. Management has been unresponsive

CLIENT'S BEWARE I have to admit when it comes to this business. 1* rating is giving to much. After I read their reviews. It seems like they are gonna treat people the way they want. Instead of treating people the way they are needed to be treated. That makes your business a bad business. We have also been given the run around by these people at Bear Bank. My husband has been on the phone repeatedly for two months Trying to get his gap pay from them. I guess this is when I step in and do everyone a favor and Sue the hell outta them. 1. They signed a contract 2. They think if they keep sending you to do different things for two months. That you might give up. 3. I'm not gonna sit her and do nothing. While your bank is committed fruad. Not to mention how much American dollars they have basically stolen from their clients.

Stressed about being able to pay my rent on time while out of town, this bank has been a god send. The staff is super friendly and very understanding. The help they've provided me in such a tough, stressful time is beyond amazing. Stellar customer service. I'd move my banking business to them.

This bank does certain things very well. AND good news about the PIN situation. We now can set our own PINS!!! YAY!!!!! The customer service I've received is great! One more quirk: there's no way to reset a username for the online banking. I have a LOT of online accounts and its difficult remembering this one. They need to change providers/software. My rating is a 4 based on the PIN thing! that was CRAZY, but it's gone now. Just go into the main branch and reset it! Not good for remote people, but it works for me.

Day 1: 05/25/21 1st call- to request a NSF to be waived as courtesy since checking account was use by error, ignored by Call Center Supervisor after being advise to leave a voicemail and didn’t get a call back.

I always feel like I’m banking in the 90’s when I deal with California Bear Credit Union. Yesterday, for instance, I was trying to do a balance transfer online from my VISA card with a high interest rate to my Cal Bear credit card. I was have trouble so I called. The representive didn’t know how to do it so I was transferred to bill pay department. From there I was told that I needed to speak to online banking department but I couldn’t be transferred because “she can’t transfer”. I called back and wound up getting the first rep. He said that they don’t have online banking department so that’s why I couldn’t be transferred. I asked for supervisor because I was getting frustrated. Her answer was to write in to request a balance transfer or request the credit union to mail me a check through the United States Postal Service and then deposit it to a bank account and then use it to pay the credit card bill that I wanted to transfer the money from. That really frustrated me. Can you imagine in this day and time writing to any company to complete a banking transaction or having them mail you a check instead of doing electronic transactions. I’ve had worse experiences with this credit union being way behind the times. I rarely deal with them because of that so I don’t recall off hand the other experiences with last century banking. But long story shortened, the way to do balance transfers with this institution is to transfer money from the Cal Bear Credit Card to a Cal Bear Checking account and then use bill pay. My goodness! Addendum: I was reading other reviews which sparked my memory about the service provided at Cal Bear. I’ve been with Cal Bear about 20 years. The other week I called to request a new PIN number for my debit card because I don’t know it. The rep said it costs $10 for a new pin. No thank you. I won’t be using that debit card for cash which means I won’t be leaving much money in an account that I can’t access at the spur of the moment for cash. Thank God for other financial institutions.

By all means keep away from this credit union bank. Customer service is horrible, bank policies is ridiculous, online website is horrendous, take your money elsewhere. I just paid off my auto loan through Bear and will never look back. You have been warn!!

Every time I have experienced service that made me feel as if I’m the most important thing going on inside their offices .
We're so happy to hear Mr. Clark! We strive to make all of our members a priority.

Called the member service line (1-800-Cal Bear) number and the person that answered was so incompetent and he was very condescending, rude and kept belittling me by judging my situation. Seriously Cal Bear, you just hire anyone off the street and do not execute proper training, and inform them on how to handle customers or have people skills. This man, whom I barely understood -it wasn't because he was a Hispanic, I too am a minority, it was just that he sounded low class and uneducated. And a lot of sarcasm with no empathy. I can not wait to join a better credit union and close the account, so many negatives.
