Boat Owners Association The U.S. is top notch. No one is looking after boaters rights and keeping an eye out for boaters like BoatUS. I do work for them as a contractor and that what makes me very knowledgeable about their operations and practices. I will always be a member.

Normally supposed to feel safe with insurance backing you. Submitted a claim that was backed by a tow incident covered through them. 4 months later and they still haven’t reviewed any supportive documents , making excuses that the failures were due to bad parts when reality ran aground. After I had a civil conversation with a representative contradicting any supportive evidence they had to possibly deny the claim. Was told to hire a surveyor at my own expense. Considering cutting my losses which I thought to be protected. I don’t typically leave reviews , but a company like this doesn’t deserve to be in business.

Boat US left me stranded on the water Friday Feb 26 2021. I called dispatch twice and let it ring for 30 min. I used the app and no one called me back. Been a member for many years and when i go to use their help nothing. I even had my crew calling and no one would answer. Good thing I wasn't sinking, they would of just ignored it and charge me for the gold unlimited membership.

Was a premium member with them for many years through many boats without ever having called for anything. The first time I ever needed a tow after all those years, they flat out told me they didn't feel like going out. This was a while back but I'm writing the review now because I noticed they dropped their prices. It seems everyone has them figured out by now.

I am NOT impressed so far. Period. Let's see if BoatUS can get better... I am Canadian keeping my boat in the US waters, so having my boat covered by an American company seemed to be a logical step. That's why I got a quote from BoatUS. It looked OK, insurance premium was pretty much the same comparing to a Canadian underwriter. Having dealt with Canadian marine insurers in the past, I assumed the process should be the same. Not so fast, my fellow boaters! I used to fill out my application, attach my last survey report and receive a quote in a couple of days. If I liked the quote, I'd phone them and pay over the phone using my credit card. And as soon as I pay, I'd get my insurance binder by email. Easy peasy, right? Not so with BoatUS. First of, You get a quote right of the bat. And when You phone them, one of their NUMEROUS service reps will do their best to entice You to depart with your hard earned money. But paying BoatUS and getting covered by them ARE two different things. Although BoatUS doesn't ask You for your survey report upfront it seems You will never get your coverage without their underwriters going through it. And if they don't like it - get ready to pay up. And if You waited until the very last second to get a renewal - too bad. You are not covered. Well, You jump through their hoops. You call their call centre and deal with their frustrated service reps. You even get them in touch with their underwriters to speed things up. And You get a promise from a service rep that an underwriter (and guess what, they all are working from home now due to this virus insanity, which takes like forever to get things done) WILL CALL you. And it's 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon. And You wait... and wait... and wait... Until it's 4:30 p.m. All of a sudden, You open up your email and HERE IT COMES - that underwriter emailed You instead!!! Do you think You've got what You wanted? Nope... He (or she) just lets You know that in order to proceed any further they must have your Bill of Sale! I don't know how You guys can live with that, to tell You the truth... It's just beyond my comprehension. Also, if You've been promised some kind of perk in exchange for BoatUS membership fee of $10, do NOT hold your breath. My roadside assistance for driving my car in the USA never showed up in my insurance paperwork. I just call it what it looks like. Simply a LIE to get You hooked. Also, it appears that "left hand has no idea what the right one does" in this company. I've been assured that my hard copy of the insurance binder will be mailed to my address in Canada. And then discouraged by one of their on-duty underwriters that I'm NOT covered if I don't have a mailing address in the USA. Well, frankly I'm a bit scared. If it took me so much time and effort just to get my coverage, what will I go through in case of something serious (God forbid) happens? I sure hope one of BoatUS people will go through my exclamation marks. I don't need an apology or a promise to do better next time around. What we all need is a BETTER service. Honest, prompt and reliable service. Let the strongest and best survive this competition. And we'll make sure to vote for it. With our wallets

Update: A claims manager did contact me and resolved the immediate issue with a two month outstanding invoice. The individual indicated that they were going to examine their back-ground handling processes to determine where things can be improved. Terrible service from the insurance group. Basically nothing happens on your claim unless you continually follow up. You have to constantly call and send e-mails to get the status on what you've submitted. If you're able to reach your adjuster directly their response will make it clear that they haven't done anything but will get right on it. Same situation with the surveyor in the field.

So far my experience has been awful with Geico BoatUS. My claim started over a month ago and nothing seems to get done. I've called several times and was lied to about when the claim would be settled. Called today and yet they still don't have answers. Don't tell people 3-5 business days and not follow through. Now on the 9th business day and no answers. I'll be looking at different insurance options after this experience.

Terrible Service!!! Our claims adjuster, Simone Popo, was completely unresponsive and hasn't responded to a single email that I have sent them... and I has specifically asked for a response to each one and pointed out how unacceptable it is that they have not responded to them. We submitted our claim TWO months ago and we are STILL waiting on approval in order for the marine to begin the work. I have had to follow up every step of the way. We were informed that they would look into whether or not we could bring it to any marine to be repaired or if it needed to be a preferred shop... two weeks later I called to ask what the status was and were told they were waiting on the adjuster to submit the form... I follow up, the adjuster forwards me the email where it has been sent two weeks ago... I follow up again and am told they are waiting on an estimate. Would have been nice if we had known they were waiting on us and that we could take it anywhere! Now the boat has been sitting there, with the estimate submitted, for a month.... and the show still can't work on it until the insurance provides approval. I call again today, and they claim they can resolve this today (we shall see..) ... but again, why do I need to keep calling to keep the process moving along?! Unacceptable. Would have been nice to have our boat before the 4th... now that has come and gone and we are still waiting.

Need a tow? Very reliable, friendly, and professional. We purchased a boat and 2nd time out, we needed a tow. Purchased the tow membership on top of towing fee and it has paid for itself! These are family oriented and very professional people. I highly recommend BoatUS!
