Terrible management! Went in to pay off a loan and was asked "Do you happen to have a mask?" Replied that we did not...associate then tells me it is required. I said do you have one for us, then? Was told they "ran out". Persistent about needing us to wear a mask even though they couldn't supply us with one and THEN we watch another associate walk by without one on. Absolutely stupid.

Been a member for 35 years, had no problems, until today. Tried to call the phone number on the back of my debit card, nobody answered the phone. This number is for lost or stolen cards. I'm very disappointed in this Credit Union. This actually was an emergency.

Holy moly they’re bad. Very few of their employees have a clue what’s going on. Frequently can’t get someone to answer the phone. When I was shopping for an auto loan I was offered 3.9% by two other lenders and Blue wanted 9%. Fee for making a payment over the phone is $20. They’re truly awful. Spare yourself.

    Response from the owner

Absolutely horrible customer service!! Husband called and set up Auto pay for our ATV loan in March. They sent some links my husband had to go through to give consent, apparently something didn't go right and the payments aren't happening. WE DID NOT GET ANY NOTIFICATION!!! This was in March, it was a new account and unemployment has jacked EVERYTHING up but I KNEW I had the money for all my bills. I was working the day my husband got this, so I'm not on the loan, they won't talk to me without power of attorney!?!?!? They have notes of all of this in their system! Yet they are refusing any accountability! I'm reporting to the BBB and moving my loan, I'll take a higher interest rate on a personal loan before I keep paying these crooks!!!

Horrible customer service! I was told to get my member number for an e-statement, turns out this is not an option for new members who just opened an account. I spent 5 minutes trying to explain this to the customer service rep, who insisted the error was on my end due to pop up blockers. I had to explain step by step what my computer was doing to assure her there are no pop up blockers on my end, after 3 minutes she finally understood, and told me it's because I'm a new member (why do I have to explain this to your employees?). I'm then told you can not provide me with the information I need to set up a bill pay with my financial institution (although your welcome email states differently), I'm told to walk through the 'make a payment option' on your mail site. Again, I cannot access this because you never sent me anything with a member number on it. Again, the customer service rep seem to not understand this. I'm told to mail a payment in. I have to explain how that is not an option as I have not received a payment coupon book from your company, nor an address where to mail in said payments. Also, I had to explain to your rep how once you receive my check with no member number, no account number, no identifying information on where to apply the payment, it doesn't make sense to mail you money that wouldn't be applied to my account. What's her answer? Well, it's still an option. How are you even an option as a credit union when your reps don't understand what's needed on a check to apply the funds to an account?! Ridiculous waste of my time!

I have never had an issue with this credit union. This company has done so much for me. They really take the time to sit down and assess with you everything with your account and everything. This is my favorite bank, and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a decent credit union- not a big bank. I've done my auto loans through them and multiple accounts. Never had an issue.

Wow, so many 1 star reviews here! I've literally never had an issue (we were with community financial before the merger) and everyone we have ever been in contact with has been so kind, so helpful and we have never ever been charged an undisclosed/unexpected fee. Any fraudulent activity has been taken care of quickly with little inconvenience to us. Their debit cards are just fine (but like any chipped card, the harder you are on it the quicker it wears). It seems like most of the negative reviewers problems could have been avoided by paying attention to the guidelines that come with the types of accounts they have. I do think that it's hard to get ahold of someone from your preferred branch unless you know their extension number but we have a branch not far from us so it's not a huge deal.

I'm surprised to see low reviews on here for Blue. My experience with them has been stellar. If you get to know the staff and know what your needs are, they serve you at the highest level--at least that has been my experience. To be fair, calling in on the 800 number has been less than impressive, which is why I have a couple of internal contacts I can reach direct for when I need help. They have come through on multiple occasions for my wife and I for multiple banking needs--refinance, auto and home loans, all at amazing rates you won't get through the big banks. I was with Community Financial many years before Blue took over and although at the time I was skeptical, I'm very happy with Blue today.

    Response from the owner

The overall customer service at Blue is pretty bad--very bad at the Broomfield location on 119th. I've had an account there since I was a teen when it was called Community Financial, prior to them merging with Warren and rebranding as Blue. My wife and I even combined our accounts here when we got married 10 years ago, both convinced that this particular "small town" credit union was the way to go. This is no longer the case, especially since they've rebranded as "Blue." The name makes sense though, because that's how working with them makes me feel. Blue. From the branch manager to the loan officer to the tellers to the 24 hour customer service line, there is a clear lack of customer service and administrative training. We had a $13k loan payoff check sent to our sellers bank on our behalf with no tracking (snail mail), even though we specifically asked for it and were told by the loan officer that he would get us a tracking number. Rather than just contacting us and owning his mistake (there was no tracking number, nor do they EVER send funds with tracking according to the branch manager), the loan officer instead became 100% non-responsive to a string of emails requesting tracking info. When we finally decided to visit the branch in person, (after waiting in the lobby to speak with the loan officer for over 45 MINUTES) we ultimately escalated to the branch manager who was utterly clueless. She never once acknowledged our concern about the lack of tracking, the fact that her loan officer had ghosted us, or that we had just waited 45 minutes for no tenable reason, explaining that, "that's just how we do business." Apparently meaning lack of communication, lack of accountability, and lack of customer service. I can buy socks online and get tracking the same business day, but get nothing from Blue for a $13k check. She did not even consider looking up the check and/or check # to see if it had been cashed, nor did she consider following up with the receiving institution on our transaction to see if they had received the check. She did, however, ask us to send her the string of emails we had originally sent to the loan officer, essentially putting it on us to prove that the loan officer had ghosted us--which never amounted to anything. Overall, there was never any indication that this branch manager would drive future changes or would have done anything differently. In fact, at one point she complained to our seller about how she even "got dragged into this," clearly not comprehending her role as THE primary point of escalation within her branch. Unfortunately, this is but one of a few issues we've dealt with in the very recent past with Blue. It's easy to see how the branch manager's lack of awareness, culpability and poor customer service habits flow down to all the other departments and employees within this branch. I would consider looking at other credit unions and/or banks in the area if you are in the market for new accounts or loans. If you're already at Blue, well, based on all the reviews they are clearly NOT "leading the pack" in overall customer service, capability or supposed membership benefits. We're looking to slowly start moving our accounts away a little at a time, as I'm no longer seeing any tangible benefit in their local branches, their online service, their mobile app, or their call center. It's as though they want to function organizationally and administratively like a big corporate bank, but still maintain the small, local credit union feel. They are failing at both.

    Response from the owner

Hi Matt, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for us. It's incredibly frustrating to have one thing after another happen, and ultimately end up with such a negative experience. Good or bad, this feedback is helping us make changes so we can better serve members. We genuinely thank you for your membership.

They will not accept business from shared branch banking unless you have an account with Blue. As I understand it, the benefit of the credit union network is to compete with big banks to have accessible branches everywhere by going to any credit union; that is why that call it shared branching. This credit union does not participate in that way. I was turned away because I did not have an account at Blue CU.
