We had an appointment in this bank that was booked a month in advance. We called to confirm it a day before and they said that time won’t work and that they will call us back to confirm what time works. We waited for a call but no one called us. We live 30min from the bank location, so we tried calling them to make sure they will honor the appointment but there was no response. Eventually we decided to drive to the bank location hoping they will be available. We got to the bank around 10min after the appointment time and they said they would have honored our appointment but because we were 10min late they couldn’t. The funny thing is that the banker who was supposed to help us was saying he couldn’t call us back because he was in back to back appointments. So even if we had arrived earlier he wouldn’t be available. Basically they were clearly lying to us and weren’t even smart enough to be self consistent. It was a really frustrating experience. Now we had to make another appointment for the next availability which is 3 weeks out. Delaying customer business by 3 weeks should have some consequences, but unfortunately there is no accountability in this branch of Bank of America.

My family has been banking with BofA since the 50's. Even before the pandemic, the lines were long and they were short staffed. Not every transaction can be handled online. I've been trying to book an appointment for my mother, yet I can't get a live body on the phone. And when I try to book an appointment online, every day I pick -- whether week day or Saturday -- is booked. And I tried booking up to 3 weeks in advance. Rediculous. Unacceptable.

Lucy was very nice and helpful today, earlier in the week I had a bad experience at the Redwood city location. Here was different it was busy but we moved fast. And again Lucy was excellent at customer service.
Hi Luis, We’re glad to hear the process went smoothly. Thanks for letting us know how helpful Lucy was during your financial center visit. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know what we’re doing well. ^sam

Every time I come there is always a line of 15-20 with no more than 3 tellers. And I typically come at 10 am, just an hour after they open and still they only have 2 tellers. Also as a merchant I should not have to wait in this line, there should be a separate line for merchants as there are at most financial institutions but there is not. If this was not the closest bank to my employer and I did not have to come here I would not.

I have to share the very positive experience I had with the Bank of America branch yesterday located at 3rd and El Camino in San Mateo. Having found the first two offices closed my last attempt was to what I believe was your main branch in San Mateo and I am so glad that they were open. I retired from a 40 year banking career a few years ago most of it in San Mateo. From the moment I entered the office at about 12:30 pm I was politely greeted and directed by your security guard to the teller line and proceeded to wait in line. Though it was unfortunate I did not note their names there were two tellers on duty and one gentleman who seemed to be their supervisor. I was so impressed with the polite and respectful way that the two tellers treated their customers before me. They showed empathy with any complaints the customer may have expressed and had respectful exchanges. My teller who was seated offered to help me complete the deposit slip I had bungled and was very pleasant and efficient. I had to return because I thought I had left the voided check I had used to locate my daughter’s account number but was unable to find. The supervisor then stepped out behind the teller line and offered to help me retrace my steps which went above and beyond my expectations. I did find the check later absentmindedly tucked in a pocket in my purse. Having been a banker for many years who understood the critical importance of customer service I was struck by the fact that it doesn’t matter how big the institution might be it is the people you hire that make the bank! They are the the ones who interact and can make the experience truly great. In these difficult times when respectful communication is so critical my experience gave me renewed hope that small acts of kindness by individuals make the difference. Kudos!

Now they’re closed on Saturdays. I work 8-4 every day, how do I actually get to go inside the bank? They want me to do online banking but I refuse to be forced to. The worst company, they don’t care at all about their customers.

I just went to bank of America in San Mateo CA to change my $41.00 check I got from my first day orientation pay from Levy and was told I had to pay an $8.00 fee. What kind of business is this. I was told my my superior that my check is from Bank of America and that I should not be charged a dime because the check is under $50.00. Wow this is a total inconveniences. 40 percent of my check for what and was told I would even get a receipt.

I come here every month to make deposits. Not a single time the line was small or they had enough tellers to help everyone in a decent time frame. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes if you are lucky.

The loud lady that's ineffective as a fake teller should turn into a teller a.k.a. get a real job instead of acting with an air of importance. 45m to cash a check, standing in the rain? Typical for a lunch time.
