This review isn’t meant for this particular branch but for the customer service with Affinity in general. I had some fraudulent activity posted to my account back in October. They froze my account. In the meantime I had some auto payments that were not suppose to be withdrawn from that account any longer but still were (even though my account was frozen) which really doesn’t make any sense. I have been going back in fourth getting different answers every time I call the bank about getting refunded from both the fraud and the returned payments being withdrawn. I have been a member of this bank 15 years and I am absolutely appalled with how they are handling this. It is now the end of December and nothing. Wait it gets better… I called the customer service line this morning in desperate search of an answer and yes I admit I’m frustrated but did not curse or raise my voice and the Affinity rep responded with frustration knowing that I am right with cursing. I have never heard of such a thing from a customer service rep and am totally shocked. I will never bank with them again and recommend that you don’t either.

I've had an auto loan with this bank for 3 months and it's been nothing but headaches since then. Unfortunately, their mistakes have messed with my credit and I can not refinance with another company until my disputes go through. When I started my loan I gave them proof of full coverage insurance. They "lost" that. How you lose a visual document beats me. Then instead of reaching out and asking for another copy, they charged me a $1500 fee. When I made my payments in the months since they haven't been going to my auto loan they have been going to this fee. So they have been reporting all my payments as missed because the payments I made they took it upon themselves to redirect to this fee they incorrectly charged me. I have been spending weeks on the phone trying to get this fixed because my credit is tanking daily over this. Everyone I have ever spoken to with them is arrogant and often cuts me off. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECCOMEND. RUN.

This particular financial institution has the slowest customer service representatives of any financial institution I have ever worked with. I applied for an auto loan and it took nearly two weeks to get a reply back. Thus, the vehicle that I wanted to buy each time was sold before I got a response back from the credit union. In turn, It falsely accused me of inconsistency and told me that I could not have any more loans and credit products with Affinity FCU. Because of misinformation and the lack of communication, I would not recommend this particular financial institution. To save yourself some time, energy, and hassles, it would be better to bank with a financial institution that will not drop the ball on you, provides a much quicker response to a member's needs and requests, and that informs you of everything you need to know upfront. Fortunately, there are lots of financial institutions to choose from, not all were created equal and are the same, and they are not all governed, ran, and operated by the same person and/or individuals.

Had possible fraud activity to my account. Called Affinity but was treated poorly and disconnected several times. No one there seems qualified. The Millington, NJ branch is unprofessional and lazy. I have had Affinity accounts for well over 20 years now but the credit union has changed for the worse. I plan to close my accounts with Affinity after this experience. I no longer trust banking with them.

I was initially told I was approved for a loan, 2 weeks later I get an email stating I wasnt with no specific reason. I called the # on the email multiple times to get clarification, no one answers or returns the call. Poor customer service.

Absolutely the best customer service I have had from a bank or financial institution ever. Maybe the best from any company. Have been a member for over five years. They have taken their time, been pleasant and real over the phone, and have gone out of their way to help me get the best deal. Moved my car loan and business account to them as well.

They charge massive, repeat penalty fees for overdraft and don't send any notification about it. When asked how to stop the overdraft from 1 company, I was told 3 things 3 seperate times. Each time in between I was charged hundreds more in fees as they had me do the wrong thing.

A totally Micky Mouse organization. They have screwed up so many interactions that it is amazing they are allowed to continue operations. A few examples: 1) The simple act of ordering additional checks turned into an episode of total incompetence, requiring numerous emails and phone calls to simply get checks.. 2) Applying for a HELOC was a nightmare, requiring more red tape and waisted time than any other experience I have ever had. 3) Their on-line bill pay system often does not send out payments on the requested date. 4) The most egregious disaster they caused: I need to close a retirement account to pay for transferring my mother from a nursing home raging with Covid to in-home care. They took forever to clear the deposit, refusing to release my funds. This caused my Mom to loose her spot, requiring her to stay in a nursing home, where she caught Covid and died.

Updated: So 4 years ago I went for 2 loans, one to Refi the mortgage, one to buy myself my first ever new car. (Yes, I spaced them out to not conflict) The refi was denied because I had to make twice as much...to REFINANCE! At that rate I could live off credit cards for 2 years and pay off the mortgage. The car loan was approved a week later for $125,000 (scratching head). When they went paperless, almost all of my perks went away because I set this all up for savings, not active accounts, which was part of the system switch. But the rates were still good, credit card was ok. I always go to the bank for a card payment because I usually get my statement 5 days before due, dont know if that is them or my Post Office. I tried to just mail it out the next morning, but that went late a few times, so off to the branch. Tried online transfer, got a bunch of fees from the transfer out of the revolving accounts at other banks into Affinity. Then, there was a conflict with one and $300 payment went missing for a month, plus the late fee, so in person at branch it is. I go to the one in New Vernon at the country mile, and they take at least 10 minutes per transaction, and only the window is open for some reason when most other banks have their lobbys open again. Then the New Vernon Manager has the gall to tell me to use the online because they are too busy. I tried to explain that doesn't work for me, explaining this one issue and to do the online transfer doesnt work for me. So I go to Mountain View, and they are effecient, but there is a tude. NOW, I missed a card payment, becuase these snow storms have me working 16 hour days again (essential worker here) and they called to harass me after being "24 days DELINQUENT". I MISSED LAST MONTH, big deal. They threatened collections. 20 years, a credit card I have to keep calling in to bring down my limit, because they keep raising it without my agreement and 2 car loans, and you get snippy!?!?! Then they ask what day I will pay!?!? They respond, "this Saturday? Can we count on that?" Now I go today, PAY OFF THE CARD, and I have to submit an online request for an account rep to figure out what is going on? I asked to close my accounts, and SHE WAS EAGER to close my account. I called in, get transferred to Bedminster for some reason, got a nice woman on the phone and asked for an account rep to call me back during this coming week. We shall see Affinity, we shall see..... Update as follows: TWO MORE calls to Affinity, NO HELP. Go to pay my card at New Vernon, lobby is back open and they are friendly and efficient again. Tried to refi my house again because rates are super low, get denied by them, but approved by everyone else (face palm). Went to a mortgage broker for my refi, ONLY FOR THE BALANCE. Got a percentage in the low 2’s, lower closing costs AND a nice pocket of cash back that was accumulated during the delays of the transaction since social distance was still in play. Just get a notice in the mail, THEY RAISED MY CREDIT LIMIT AGAIN, without my permission. What is going on over there?

Downward Spiral !!! After so many years with Affinity FCU, posting this feedback is regrettable...but IT IS MORE THAN WARRANTED! The Mt. Kemble branch used to be a warm friendly place where some, if not most, of the staff knew me by name and transactions were a breeze. The downhill spiral began with their incessant spam mailings and cheesy displays in the branch. Fast forward, today the branch had an entirely new staff - totally clueless and lacking any experience - just to logon and find the account was a chore not to mention authenticate with social security and more. I wanted to see the manager on recasting a car loan … I gave up. Truly time to find a new bank - CANNOT BE ANY WORSE THAN WHERE AFFINITY IS NOW!!!
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your expierences at the branch have not been what is expected. We would love to hear more about your expierence and assist you. Please reach out to our member service center at 800.325.0808. Thank you!
